I can’t tell you how EXCITED I am that Stitch Rock is right around the corner! This year is going to be bigger than ever with 70 vendors and outside vendor tent and a few food vendors to tempt your taste buds.

I work so hard to make this show a success every year. It's alot of work for one lil' panda but Oct 2nd it will all be worth it!

I'm having so much fun making these fake cupcakes. I made about 4 dozen for our mini holiday craft show at the bakery and sold all but 5! So here my pieces sat still in my studio, the day of the show opening. No, they arent ready to be hung they are waiting to be filled with pictures of gingerbread houses i made and photographed. I have always been a last min kinna gal, but this one takes the cake. (or shall i say 'cupcake') They were however finished and hung an hour before the show, so in the end i guess thats all that really matters ;)

Fabric Yo-Yo Necklaces

In this StitchBird Workshop we will learn how to create fabric Yo-Yos and then fashion them into nifty necklaces and collars! Fabric yo-yos were popular in the early 19th century as a fun and funky use for leftover fabric scraps. Is is an old-school classic craft!

This workshop requires very minimal stitching, so don't be afraid if you're new to the needle and thread!

You'll find that making fabric Yo-Yos is fun and really quite easy. Once you get the hang of it you can make bunches of adorable yo-yos to embellish and create all kinds of things! They are totally cute as pin brooches, gift toppers, hair ornaments and so much more. Endless possibilities really!

All materials and light refreshments supplied to workshop attendees.
Just bring yourselves!
Optional: Bring a good pair of fabric scissors and fabric you love!

We initially met Denn when she attended the very first StitchBird Workshop back in April '08! She brought an amazing little Luchador, that she had just made, with her to class that day. Denn also did a number of adorable plush creations for the recent Stitch Wars show! We knew she had a special talent for creating adorable, unique characters and just had to invite her to be the second guest artist in the StitchBird Stuffed Artist series! The theme Denn came up with is 'Mythical Creatures' and boy are these guys CUTE! Each workshop attendee will get materials and patterns to make BOTH the smiley sea serpent and the fuzzy wuzzy Yeti guy! Probably you will have time to complete one during the workshop and finish the other home. Both of these lil guys are about 5" tall.

We will be working with super-fuzzy fun fur, microfiber fleece and safety eyes! Fun fur is a challenge, but Denn will be on hand for tips and tricks! Plus, look how CUTE the lil guy is!! :-)

All materials and light refreshments supplied to workshop attendees.

The StitchBird Stuffed Artist series is an ongoing series of workshops where a guest artist creates a unique pattern especially for the workshop! Stuffed Artist series plushes will also offer (optional) little fabric tags that ID the artist/date and make your plush even more special and unique!

Fabric Covered Button Charm Bracelet and Clips

Make a darling, unique custom charm bracelet and hair clips using fabric buttons that YOU COVERED YOURSELF!
You'll learn to use a nifty little fabric button maker-tool (which you get to take home with you) and choose from loads of fabric. Use special bits of the fabric that speaks to you most! Bring scraps of fabric that you have lying around at home and it will be even more personal and full of memories.

We just want to warn you that making your own fabric covered buttons is addicting and fun! You're going to want to make MORE and MORE and MORE!! :-) So, you'll be so glad that you get to keep the fabric button maker-tool!!

In Cupcake news, We have added a lil' out door seating area at the bakery and a few special delights on our 'cafe' menu. To celebrate we had a 'Grand Opening' party on Jully 11th. Tons of peeps came out to celebrate and eat free cupcakes. It was hot but fun! We held two cupcake eating contests, one for kids and one for adults. Thankfully no one barfed or choked!

Cigar boxes are one of the best most-underused and special craft items out there!
Anything you put in a cigar box becomes a little bit more special than it was before... :-)
For the month of May, StitchBird Workshops will be using wooden cigar boxes to create one-of-a-kind Cigar Box Purses!
Obviously, the sample at the left is only an *idea* of what yours will look like! It will be 100% pure and simple YOU!
We will be using decoupage techniques to decorate the exteriors of the boxes. All kinds of paper ephemera,
books and magazines will be provided for crafting your own custom purse! You're guaranteed loads of compliments!
